Have you transcended conflict and reached to peace?

Aug 12, 2017

I totally love A Course in Miracles. I read these two sentence this morning in Chapter 27:

“The holy instant is the miracle’s abiding place. From there, each one is born into this world as witness to a state of mind that has transcended conflict, and has reached to peace. It carries comfort from the place of peace  into the battleground and demonstrates that war has no effects.” -A Course in Miracles

I love this. It’s what Jesus said 2000 years ago: “You must be born again. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

The “Kingdom of God” is the state of mind of Love, with no opposite.

It is “the place of peace” described in A Course in Miracles. You become “a witness to a state of mind that has transcended conflict.”

Reaching this place is done by your decision. You decide you are done with conflict, done with drama, done with judging, done with guilt, blame, attack, defense and weakness that comes from believing you are a body and in that instant you are “born again” and the memory of your true Self (whole, healed, perfect, eternal) returns to your awareness.

You transcend conflict any time you choose and reach to peace.

But here’s the thing: it’s impossible to transcend conflict alone. You need help. You invite your Highest Self – Holy Spirit, God, Christ, Love, the Light within you are – to help you.

I love how the above sentences from A Course in Miracles also says “it carries peace into the battleground” because to me this means that I am needed here to demonstrate this state of mind. I don’t just sit around. I carry this peace with me wherever I go. I carry this peace into the battleground. I give it. I share it. I am generous with God’s Love.

We are invited to transcend conflict and no longer participate in the battleground.

I love how easy it is to do. It doesn’t seem easy to anyone who still wants to stay in conflict. But the moment you see what the state of mind of conflict is doing to you, you lay down your sword, you put aside attack and defenses and you in that moment make a decision to “transcend conflict.”

Most of you guys who know me know one of my favorite mottos: Screw it. I’m done.

Done with conflict. Done with thinking about this problem. Done with lack of love in myself and in other. Done with self-doubt. Done with littleness. Done with attack.

At a certain point you see what you have been doing to yourself and you stop it. It’s that simple. You put “your sharp-edged toys” (ACIM) away and you stop attacking yourself. You stop attacking others. The fight is over and you transcend conflict.

“Come to the holy instant and be healed, for nothing that is there received is left behind on your returning to the world. And being blessed you will bring blessing. Life is given you to give the dying world.” -A Course in Miracles

That is so good. Life is given me to give the dying world. Am I giving life? Or am I stuck in the dying world waiting for something to happen? Life has been given to each and everyone of us to give the dying world. We have been given everything: love, peace, light, joy. Now we go and give.

“Healing replaces suffering.” -A Course in Miracles.

I love A Course in Miracles. I love how it’s ALL or NOTHING. It’s uncompromising. Either I am suffering or I am in total joy. There is no in-between, and it only takes a decision and an instant to shift to joy

If this seems impossible, I suggest doing the workbook lessons of A Course in Miracles. Begin it. It takes one year to complete. You do one workbook lesson per day, and they are simple to do.

But do exactly what it instructs. Make no compromises. When it says give 5 minutes of quiet, give 5 minutes. When it instructs two to three 10-15 minute periods a day, do it. YES, it will require you to re-arrange your schedule to give time to practice, be still, rest in God and to find your grievances and let them go. There are fill in the blanks so you don’t have to figure anything out.

Doing the workbook lessons is the fastest way I know to lead you out of darkness and keep you consistently in a state of mind of peace and joy. A year might not seem like “the fastest” to you, but consider how many years you have struggled. Consider how many self-help routes you have tried that “work momentarily” but then you fall back into old patterns of doubt, anger and fear.

Would one year be worth it to achieve a state of mind that WILL STICK?

If you have “done” A Course in Miracles and you are still suffering, ask yourself in honesty why that is.

This is what I did after several times through A Course in Miracles Workbook and I still suffered. I got honest. I asked myself in honesty why I was still suffering. Why was I still in conflict?

The answer I got was that I had never actually “done” the workbook lessons. I read them every day, but I never took the quiet time. I never did the periods of relaxation. Every day I would read the lesson and think “that sounds good” and then I would not sit quietly for 30 minutes.

Also, I discovered the conflict was my comfort zone. I didn’t actually want peace. I “said” I wanted peace, but really, back then, I was all about self-sabotage and staying in conflict. I was good at it, and it meant that I didn’t have to be responsible for my thoughts. It meant that I still got to blame others and I got to blame God and Jesus for my stuckness. It means I could continue to hide out in littleness and everyone would leave me alone. Conflict didn’t require anything at all of me, and so I hung out there for years.

Until it became so painful that I was forced to change. This is mostly how it works for most people. We don’t change until we are forced to, and things become so painful that our back is against the wall and there is no where to turn.

Between a rock and a hard place is a great place to be because you realize your old techniques no longer work. You realize you cannot get yourself out of the situation alone. In this moment is SURRENDER.

In this moment – when everything seems to be failing – is when a lot of people finally decide they don’t want to stay in pain and conflict anymore.

When you come to this place (the holy instant, when you are done with conflict) is determined by you.

That’s what happened to me. I reached a place where I no longer was willing to tolerate lack of love in myself or anyone else and I joined Jesus and the Great Crusade to correct it.

From Jesus in A Course in Miracles:
“As you share my inability to tolerate lack of love in yourself and others, you must join the Great Crusade to correct it. The slogan for the Crusade is “Listen, learn and do“: Listen to my voice, learn to undo error, and do something to correct it. The first two are not enough. The real members of my party are active workers.”

I hope this is helpful. You don’t have to suffer for one more second. This is what I learned. You must be born again to a state of mind that has transcended conflict and reached the place of peace.

Thanks again Lisa. Loved reading your blog. I read “The Nature of Conflict” by Chuck Norris about 40 years ago. It was my first lesson on conflict from J. Another word you used is SURRENDER. I have been thinking of flying a white flag in my front yard just to get people to talk about SURRENDERING!! Ha!

    • Lisa Natoli says:

haha!! Thank you Joe! I love this comment and I love the white flag idea! LOL. I also love how you are now saying HA. to THAT I say: HA! I will check out that book by Chuck Norris. Thank you.

Thank you Lisa for this blog. I’ve studied the course for the last 10 years and I too find myself still struggling with pain and suffering. I know now that i really never did the lessons as directed to by Jesus even though i tried 3 times for 3 years. I’m going to reread the text and begin the lessons “choosing once again”. Again thank you.

    • Lisa Natoli says:

Hi Jay – oh boy, do I love reading messages like these! Thank you. This was my realization and that year I decided to “do” the workbook lessons – actually do them and not just read – was the year everything changed. It’s like going to the gym “working out with a trainer” and deciding to read the magazines. LOL. Not much change occurs. If Jesus could jump out of those pages like a real trainer, the transformation becomes immediate.

  6. Jane Riordan says:

Hi Lisa, Thank you once again for bringing a dark moment for me into the light. After I wrote this morning in 40 days class I knew in my heart that the answer was to let it all go & be & to live the peace of God that I am. No compromising, no confrontations only peace. This great love takes care of my life from now on. I am smiling. I have purchased the ACIM book that you mentioned above too 🙂 All love to you! Jane

Wonderful message, Lisa ! Took me a few days to get to reading this…and I read it at the perfect time…how about that (LOL)? just when I was feeling sad, lonely, discouraged and off balance and realizing I was coming close to a slippery slope re: ACIM…this appears and encourages me to get back on track. Thank you, dear Lisa !
